Cheese Scones

The secret ingredients in these fabulous scones are Origin Earth milk and cheese.

Makes 12-15

450 g Baker’s flour
4 tsp baking powder
¼ tsp salt
75 g salted butter, grated
1 cup grated Origin Earth grated cheese (Takenga Gold for subtle cheesiness or Sleeping Giant for a great cheesy hit), plus extra for sprinkling
1-1½ cups Origin Earth Full Milk, plus extra for brushing

1              Preheat oven to 190°C.

2              Place flour, baking powder and salt in a bowl and mix well to combine.

3              Stir in butter and 1 cup grated cheese. Mix to combine. Add 1 cup milk and cut in with a knife, adding more milk to form a soft dough.

4              Turn dough onto a floured surface, lightly knead and shape into a 3cm thick rectangle. Cut into equal sized pieces and place 2cm apart on a lightly floured baking tray. Brush top of scones with a little additional milk and sprinkle with additional grated cheese.

5              Bake for 15 minutes or until golden. Delicious eaten warm.
